Pet Commemorative Book Program
The library’s new Pet Commemorative Book Program offers an opportunity to remember a pet through a meaningful and enduring gift to Children’s Services. Whether you are seeking to remember a pet who has died, or you want to celebrate the adoption of a new pet, you might want to consider making a donation to this program. With a $15.00 donation, we will purchase a children’s book for our collection. The book will contain a bookplate naming the pet being honored and name of the donor. For more information, please contact children’s services.

Recycle Your Holiday
Turn your trash into treasures @ the library. Plan to save a few cards, used wrapping paper, and ribbon. Bring them to the library and we will show you how to make them into something new! This is a drop-in program. Come for 20 minutes or stay for two hours.

New Year’s Eve Countdown
You don’t have to stay up until midnight in order to celebrate the new year! Attend our New Year’s masquerade and countdown with masks, dancing, refreshments and a countdown to twelve – noon! . For ages 3 and up accompanied by an adult.
Crest Hill Branch: Wed., Dec. 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Marvelous Mondays Illustrator Mural
Help decorate the library while learning how to create pieces of art in the style of your favorite illustrators. Ages 7 and up.
Crest Hill Branch: Mondays, Jan. 4, 11, and 25 from 4:15-5:00 p.m.

Lego Group
Have fun building your own Lego creations at the library. We supply the Legos, you supply the creativity. Your finished work will go on display in the library! We meet each month to continue our creations or start something new. For children 6 and up. Registration is recommended

Tween Crafts
A craft for older children is offered each month at both branches. In January, assemble a penguin key chain. All supplies provided. For ages 9-12. Register at Children's Services.

Crest Hill Branch: Thurs., Jan. 14 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Readers Theater at Lockport
Children will act out a play by reading parts and using their voices and mannerisms to dramatize a script. No memorization required. For ages 8 and up. Registration is required to make sure we have parts for everyone!

Magic Tree House Club
Where are Jack and Annie headed next? Follow them as we explore ancient worlds, distant lands and amazing creatures. Each adventure will include crafts, activities, games and more. You don’t have to have read the books to enjoy the fun. In January, we’ll celebrate Chinese New Year with Day of the Dragon King. For ages 6-9. Registration required.

Wii For Kids
You may have video games at home but it’s WAY more fun to challenge your friends. Play games like Mario Kart, Dance Dance Revolution, Mario Party 8 or Wii Sports on the big screen. Registration recommended.
Lockport Branch: Fri., Jan. 15 from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m.
Crest Hill Branch: Fri., Jan. 22 from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m.

Wii Make Music
Shake off those winter blues and experience music like never before! Sing, dance, strum and rock your way through a variety of musical games. For children ages 6 and up. Parents should be aware that many musical games are rated T for Teen. To register or to get more information, speak to a Children’s Services staff member.

Stop by the library on this Saturday and choose a craft or two to make and take. We are cleaning out our craft kits, and you will find some interesting things to make. All ages.

Pet Scrapbooking
Learn how to create your own photo scrapbook. We’ll get you started with some pet-themed supplies. Please bring 1-4 pictures that your parents are fine with you cutting and glueing. Don’t have pets? We will have some old copies of Cat Fancy, Dog Fancy, and Reptiles magazines, so you can cut out your favorite pets. Ages 7 and up.

Kids Book Discussion Group
A book discussion group is a great way to enjoy books and talk about them with your friends. We are now accepting members to join this terrific group of 3rd through 5th graders. Help us earn points towards a fun reward at the end of the school year! Register and pick up your book at the Children’s Services Desk
