Time
Limits
Computer reservation time
slots are on a first come - first served basis only. Advance registrations or
registrations for specific computers are not accepted. You may not register for
consecutive time slots. Local and in-state Illinois patrons are guaranteed a
minimum of one (1) hour for public computer use per reserved time slot. This
time includes printing, downloading, and all other activities related to
electronic resource use. Out of state visitors are guaranteed 15 minutes. At the
end of your time slot, you may continue to use the assigned computer if others
are not waiting. Patrons who have been on for the longest period of time after
their initial time limit must relinquish the computer at the request of library
staff. Patrons may not extend their time due to technical difficulties that
arise during their time slot. Regardless of the time left on the reservation,
all patrons must finish using the computers 15 minutes before library closing to
allow for the proper shutdown of equipment. There is also a limit of one patron
per computer workstation except in the case of a parent or guardian supervising
a child’s use.
Printing
Patrons are responsible for
the payment of charges for any and all pages printed from their assigned
computer at the current fee posted. This includes any mistakes, errors, or
duplicate pages printed. Failure to do so may result in the loss or suspension
of privileges. This charge covers both the high cost of toner and paper, as well
as printer hardware. Patrons may not use their own paper for printing.
Saving
Files
Patrons may save files to
preformatted removable memory / storage devices. If necessary, patrons may
purchase disks from the circulation desk. The purchase of CD-R and CD-RW disks
is non-refundable. The library is not responsible for the loss of data and/or
physical damage to personal disks and/or storage devices while using the
library’s public computers. Patrons are also responsible for adhering to all
United States copyright laws.
Software
Patrons may not install software on public
computers.
E-mail
The library does not offer email accounts. Patrons
may use web-based email if they already know the information necessary to access
their accounts.
