Movies You Would Love to Read

What’s "Showtime at the
Library" all about?
Upon registering with Adult Services, you will be issued
one game board that is yours to keep as a reading log. On this game board,
you are asked to read six books out of twelve possible categories, and at
least one book on each side of the game board must be filled in. You pick
the titles that relate to cinema and television, movie and television
stars, or are books that were made into movies to correspond to the
categories on the game board.
Lists of suggestions will be available at
the Adult Services desk and displays of recommended reading materials
that you can check out will be on hand as well. Showtime at the Library
game boards can be picked up beginning July 1st and must be turned in by
August 12th!
A great list of books
that were made into movies can be found here.
Please note that only one reading log will be issued per
registrant. All drawings will be held at the end of the program and will be district wide.
How can you win a prize?
For every one book you read on the game board, you will receive two
tickets to place in one raffle for all five drawings, which will be drawn
at the end of the Adult Summer Reading Program on August 13th. In
addition, every cinematic related program you attend (from May through
August 12th) earns you one ticket towards the drawings. Tickets at
cinematic related events are not limited to participants of Showtime at
the Library, but will only be distributed to participants ages 19 and
older.
Weekly prizes will be raffled off at Movies You Would Love to Read film
screenings, hosted at the Lockport branch. Attendees at these film
screenings (two of which also host film critic Josh Larsen) will earn
these weekly prizes, and no participation in the Adult Summer Reading
Program is required to win.
For our Grand Prize drawing, every six books you read on the game
board will earn one ticket to place in the Grand Prize drawing, with a
maximum of two Grand Prize tickets per registrant.
